Long before PHArmaceuticals arrived in Aotearoa, Maori relied on native plant based remedies to keep themselves and their mokopuna healthy. It is these traditional remedies, with a modern twist, that form the basis of the Aotea brand and our products. Everything is sourced sustainably and made with our tipuna in mind.

Manuka Honey 125+

Aotea Manuka Honey is sourced sustainably from our hives on AOTEA – Great Barrier Island. With the island covered in Tea Tree, our Manuka Honey is all quality with a certified MGO (Methylglyoxal) rating of 125+. We care about our bees so we make sure we only take what they can spare – it is super important that they keep the lions share so they can thrive through the winter.

Kawakawa Balm

A multi purpose soothing balm based on traditional use of Kawakawa for irritations, abrasions and pains. Kawakawa leaves have a super high anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and analgesic content making it an amazing balm for all sorts. With Almond and Tea Tree Oil, and some beeswax from our own hives, our Kawakawa Balm is the natural and native skincare remedy perfect for dry lips, skin irritations (like eczema), as well as bites, sores and nappy rash.

What we put on our skin is ultimately absorbed into our body - which is why we make our face cream with the most natural and simple restorative ingredients. In fact, our face cream is so natural its contents are actually safe to eat (although we wouldn’t recommend it). We are also big believers in the native flora and fauna of this country, which is why the anti-inflammatory kawakawa leaf and the anti-bacterial and super active manuka honey are significant tenants in our face cream which leaves your skin super clean blemish free and feeling fresh.
